Built by Two Women Who Saw the Problem Firsthand
Chromara exists to eliminate shade-matching failure for good, by rebuilding the manufacturing layer from the ground up.
Help Fuel the Future
Why We Built This
We both worked at Sephora. Same locations, same problem.
Day after day, we watched customers spend significant time at various makeup brands, trying shade after shade, and still leaving disappointed or leaving without anything at all. The problem wasn't a matter of effort or product quality. The industry was manufacturing foundation the same way it always had: mass-producing a fixed set of the same 40 shades hoping it would work for billions of individuals.
We knew the problem was structural.
And we believed the solution had to be too.
And we believed the solution had to be too.
Chromara exists to build the infrastructure layer the beauty industry is missing. Not another shade range or matching quiz. A device that manufactures your exact foundation, in your exact shade, at the moment you need it, from 4.5 million possible combinations.
Our mission is to eliminate the shade-matching failure that affects 67% of foundation consumers and costs the industry billions in waste every year by removing the need for mass-produced shade inventory entirely.
Our mission is to eliminate the shade-matching failure that affects 67% of foundation consumers and costs the industry billions in waste every year by removing the need for mass-produced shade inventory entirely.
We're two female founders building this from scratch, in St. Louis, with a genuine belief that the beauty industry is full of smart people who know the current model is broken and are ready for a better infrastructure to plug into.
We're building that infrastructure.

Lydia Steevens
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Lydia Steevens is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Chromara. Before co-founding Chromara, Lydia spent several years at Sephora, where she witnessed the shade-matching problem firsthand on a daily basis. Customers routinely left without finding a match, and every existing solution offered only incremental improvements to a system that was structurally broken. That sustained, close-range exposure to the problem gave Lydia a precise understanding of where the industry was failing and what a real solution would require.
As CEO, Lydia leads fundraising, financial strategy, intellectual property, and company operations. She works directly with Chromara's engineering partner on prototype development of the NovaMirror. Her approach to leadership prioritizes clarity: with investors, she communicates exactly where the company stands; with engineering partners, she ensures technical milestones align with business objectives.

Faith Binkholder
Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer
Faith Binkholder is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Chromara.
Before co-founding Chromara, Faith worked at Sephora alongside Lydia, where she too watched the same problem play out in front of her every day: customers leaving without a shade that actually matched their skin. That frustration, multiplied across thousands of people, made it clear that the issue was a structural failure built into the way the beauty industry manufactures and distributes foundation.
As COO, Faith oversees marketing, content, partnership outreach, and technical operations. She leads Chromara's enterprise partnership strategy, positioning the NovaMirror as infrastructure for existing beauty brands rather than a competing product. Her operational philosophy centers on transparency and authenticity. As bootstrapping founders, Faith relies on authentic founder storytelling and a conviction that credibility is built through honesty about where a company stands, not through overpromising.
